File Monster

File Monster is an application that you can use to securely remove files from your hard-disk.
As compared to other similar products, File Monster doesn’t offer shell integration, but instead it asks users to access the main window every time they plan to remove a file.
The multi-panel GUI allows you to browse local files just like you usually do in Windows Explorer, so it’s enough to simply open the root directory holding the items you plan to delete.
File Monster shows the essential details on each file, including creation date, size and name.
Furthermore, the app can display not only typical files, but also hidden, read-only and system items, which makes the removal task even more effective.
Sadly, there are no configuration options at your disposal and while secure cleaning is indeed a very important task for many of you, the app doesn’t provide any settings in this regard. You can’t configure the number of times you wish to overwrite the file or pick a different removal method than the standard one.
The file removal engine is fast and stable and it doesn’t seem to affect system performance too often, but we’ve experienced some minor slowdowns during our testing, especially when working with larger files.
Overall however, there are too many missing features to consider File Monster a top choice. There’s no shell integration, no configuration options and the app uses just a single file removal method, which can be only bad news for all experienced users out there.
