File Shredder

File Shredder is a tool designed to help you securely remove files from the computer to prevent other people with PC access from getting hold of your personal information using specialized software products. It's capable of filling files with random data as an extra security measure.

Outdated interface for shredding files in bulk

By the look of the interface, this program hasn't received updates for a long time. It has a rudimentary appearance with dated graphical elements. On the other hand, it gives you an overview of all options.
You can add as many files to the task list as you want to delete at the same time using drag-and-drop support, thanks to the fact that batch processing is permitted. It's possible to opt for normal secure deletion mode or to overwrite files with characters.

Wipe files and fill them with random data

There's a lineup with predefined characters available and you can remove any of them or add new ones, as well as specify the number of characters to use.
In order to shred files, they must be selected. Apart from the fact that you can delete any entry from the list as well as clear the whole task to start everything from scratch, there are no other notable options provided by File Shredder.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

The program's wrapped in two files (.exe and .dll) that can be saved to a custom directory on the disk or stored on a USB flash drive to directly run it on any PC by just double-clicking the executable. It doesn't create files on the disk without your approval or make changes to your system registry. However, .NET Framework must be installed.

Compatibility issues with newer Windows

We've encountered startup errors on recent Windows editions in our tests due to .NET Framework. File Shredder remained in beta development and doesn't seem to be an ongoing project anymore.
