Files Wrapper

Files Wrapper is a very simple software application built to help you quickly compress files into EXE archives. These are not self-extracting executable files, though, so Files Wrapper must be installed in order to extract the items.

Installing this tool is a fast and easy job that requires minimal user attention. Just keep in mind to launch the app with administrative rights, otherwise it will display a lot of errors.
The interface is based on a small window with a minimalistic structure, where you can select as many files as you want for an archive, as well as check out their full path, remove any entry from the list if you change your mind, or clear the entire queue to restart the project from scratch.

Easily pack and unpack EXE archives

In order to create the new EXE archive, all you have to do is indicate the output directory and file name. This file is swiftly generated.
Administrative privileges are also required for unpacking the EXE archives. The utility shows a small window with a single button which invites you to establish the saving directory for file extraction.
You should keep in mind that all files with the same name which exist in the given location will be automatically overwritten by Files Wrapper without user confirmation, so make sure not to accidentally erase important data. There are no other notable options available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

As long as you run Files Wrapper with administrative rights for both packing and unpacking archives, no errors pop up. The tool carried out tasks rapidly in our tests while remaining light on system resources usage.
On the other hand, it's quite obvious that Files Wrapper it old (e.g. rudimentary interface). Plus, files can only be unpacked using this app, and it doesn't let you import folders for archiving.
More importantly, the size of the resulted EXE archives was larger than the one of the containing files combined. In this case, you should resort to more reliable compression utilities, like PeaZip, Bandizip or 7-Zip.
