Free File Date Checker

Free File Date Checker is a tiny and portable app with a very simple purpose: it shows the date and time of creation, last modification and access of any file, so that you can verify them. It comes in handy in scenarios when you cannot do this by opening the "Properties" dialog of a file.

No installation required

Since this is a portable tool, you can drop its executable file in any part of the disk and just click it to launch Free File Date Checker. Otherwise, you can save it to a pen drive or other removable storage unit to directly run it on any PC. It doesn't modify the Windows registry configuration.

Simplistic interface and options

The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a small window that shows all options supplied by Free File Date Checker. All you have to do is select a file using the classical file browser and the app will immediately show its date and time of creation, last modification and access. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer support for drag and drop.
Although it doesn't implement a button for copying data to the Clipboard, you can do this by making a text selection and using the global Copy hotkey or by opening the right-click menu. There are no other notable options offered by this app.

Evaluation and conclusion

As expected, its impact on the overall performance of the PC was minimal, since it needed low CPU and RAM to function normally. Everything worked smoothly, and it didn't hang, crash or display error messages.
Too bad it doesn't integrate an option for viewing timestamps for multiple selected files at the same time (batch mode). We must also keep in mind that Free File Date Checker hasn't been updated for a long time. Otherwise, it gets the job done quickly.
