Free File Wiper Description
Free File Wiper is a software program that enables users to securely erase files and folders, in order to make them unrecoverable. Therefore, the security of your personal information is ensured after it is deleted.
The installation procedure does not take a long time to finish. However, users should be careful during these steps, as Free File Wiper offers to download and install third-party components that are not essential for it to work properly.
Once installed, Free File Wiper integrates into the Windows shell, so you can access it by opening the context menu of any file or folder.
There are four wiping methods available: none (only wipe the file name, truncate data and delete the file), quick, normal, secure, and maniacal erase (7 passes).
It is possible to lock the window position, ask Free File Wiper to start minimized to the tray, hide the wiping progress window, delete files automatically without showing the confirmation dialog, as well as to make the window transparent, among others.
Free File Wiper may take a while to finish file shredding, depending on the files' size and selected erasure method. It uses low CPU and RAM, so it does not hog system resources. No error dialogs popped up throughout our evaluation, and the tool did not hang or crash. All in all, Free File Wiper serves its purpose and can be handled by any type of users, regardless of experience with file shredding applications.
