GIF to BMP Converter

GIF to BMP Converter is a command-line application in charge with generating common image files with the .bmp format from GIF graphic files.
It's quite easy to operate, even if you're not used to console tools, since they are typically preferred by hardcore PC users, rather than spending time exploring graphical interfaces.

How it works

The syntax is gif2bmp source_gif_filename destination_bmp_filename. All you have to do is indicate the name and extension of the GIF file you're attempting to convert, along with the name and format of the new BMP item. If they're in different locations than this application, make sure to specify their full paths.
The task doesn't take long, after which you can open the two files side by side to inspect quality results by comparing the GIF and BMP items. Unfortunately, the program doesn't support batch processing, which means that you're restricted to converting only one file at a time. This may become a tedious task if you're planning to transform a large collection of GIFs, though.

Portable program

It's not wrapped in a setup kit, unlike usual tools. Instead, it's packed in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk and copied to a removable storage unit, in order to directly run GIF to BMP Converter on any computer with minimum effort and no previous setup.
It doesn't add new entries to the system registry, create files on the disk without your permission, or need DLLs or other components to work properly. In order to uninstall it, you simply have to delete its executable.

Evaluation and conclusion

The tool didn't put a strain on the computer's performance in our tests, running on a low quantity of CPU and memory. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.
On the other hand, GIF to BMP Converter doesn't feature richer command-line arguments for experienced users. We must also take into account that it hasn't been updated for a long time.
