HashCalc Description
As the name of this piece of software implies, HashCalc is a simple-to-use program which enables you to calculate multiple types of cryptographic hash functions for your files. It can be easily worked with.
The interface of the tool is based on a standard window and an uncomplicated layout. Once you select the 'File' data format, you can use the file browser or 'drag and drop' functionality to import a file.
Simply select which cryptographic hash functions you want to use and make HashCalc calculate their values with the simple click of a button.
So, HashCalc can find out the MD5, MD4, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384, SHA512, RIPEMD160, PANAMA, TIGER, MD2, ADLER32, CRC32 and eDonkey/eMule values of a file. But the data format can also be either a text or hexadecimal string.
This type of software can be of assistance when you want to check the integrity of your files, whether we are talking about music, movies, video games, documents, software or others.
The program runs on a moderate amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and instantly displays the cryptographic hash functions values after you click the 'Calculate' button. We have not come across any problems throughout our testing; HashCalc did not freeze, crash or display error dialogs. Its interface needs some improvements but we must keep in mind the fact that HashCalc has not been updated for a long time.
