Highscreen converter Description
Developed in Java, Highscreen converter is a lightweight application that gives you the possibility to transform geographical information captured with Highscreen Black Box Radars (DAT format) into files with the CSV format.
It contains the necessary and suffice options for carrying out this task, making it accessible not only to experienced users, but also to those new to file conversion software.
No setup required, besides Java
The entire program's packed in a single executable .jar file that you can copy to a preferred directory on the disk or to a removable storage unit, in order to effortlessly launch it on any PC with Java.
It doesn't modify the system registry configuration or create files on the disk without your permission. In order to get rid of it, you simply have to delete this file.
Easily convert DAT to CSV files
As far as the interface is concerned, Highscreen converter adopts a small window with a plain appearance and neatly structured layout, where you can indicate the object you're attempting to convert with the help of the file browser, as well as as well as indicate the output directory and name of the new CSV file.
The conversion operation doesn't take long, during which you can view a progress bar and no other details about the current task. There is no message dialog that pops up at the end to let you know whether or not the job was successful, so you can open the output directory and launch the new file to inspect results for yourself.
Evaluation and conclusion
It had minimal impact on the computer's performance in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. Tasks were carried out fast. The tool remained stable throughout our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or prompt errors.
On the other hand, Highscreen converter doesn't come packed with richer options and configuration settings for users looking for more control over the conversion operation. Nevertheless, it delivers a simple and effective solution for turning Highscreen Black Box Radar DAT files into CSV items.
