Huge Small File is a lightweight and portable piece of software which gives you the possibility to generate fake files with a user-defined size. It can be used to test various software applications or when working with file sharing clients, for example.

Portability benefits

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the program file in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run. Another possibility is to save Huge Small File to a USB flash disk or similar removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
An important aspect worth mentioning is that the tool does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, thus leaving the disk clean after removal.

The new file is created on the spot and automatically placed in the same directory as Huge Small File; this location cannot be changed by the user. There are no other noteworthy settings available in this software utility.

Evaluation and conclusion

Huge Small File has a good response time and almost instantly creates a while. As expected, it has minimal impact on PC performance, using low CPU and memory. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. Although it does not feature rich options, this utility offers a simple and effective method to generating large fake file for various purposes.
