IconLogic Timer Description
Being involved in your activities can make you easily forget about the notion of time, but spending a lot of hours in front of the computer isn’t completely healthy. On the bright side of things, there are various applications over the web which can help you remember to take a break every now and then, and IconLogic Timer is a suitable example.
Cool visual style and intuitive controls
One advantage in particular is the lack of a setup process, so you can just as well deploy it on a thumb drive in case you want to use it on other computers than your own. Registry entries remain intact, so you don’t have to worry about affecting the health status of the target PC. note, however, that you need to make sure that Adobe AIR is installed.
The visual design is pretty neat, and doesn’t make it difficult for individuals of any level of experience to get the hang of things. There’s a large animated clock and a progress slider while the counter is active, while the set of controls can slide to be in plain sight or not, and starting the timer hides it.
Count your break times and show messages
At its core, the application wants to be a break timer. The interface can display a custom message whenever the counter is active, and when the time is up. Unfortunately, there aren’t really any alerts, in the sense that you can’t have the window brought up when the time expires, nor enable audio alerts.
The counter is configurable only in minutes. This is done in an editable field, but you can also pick from several presets for 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Unfortunately, you can’t make it recurrent, just so you count both break and work sessions.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that IconLogic Timer is fitted with better aesthetics than functionality. Although it’s easy enough to set up timers and messages, it’s mostly useful for one-time counters, since it can’t be made recurrent.
