iFoneMate Description
iFoneMate is a simple piece of software that aims to provide you with the means to efficiently recover data from your iOS devices.
Restores a wide array of iOS devices
The first thing you should know about this program is the fact that it works with all of Apple's range of iOS-based devices, starting from iPhones 3GS, iPad 1 and iPods all the way up to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and the latest iPad.
This said, the application provides you with three methods of recovering data, specifically from iOS devices, from iTunes backups or iCloud backups.
Simple interface and straightforward workflow
The interface, while not impressive and clearly not close to other leading apps of this sorts, is as streamlined as possible.
Once your device is connected to your computer, the tool scans it and also searches for iTunes and iCloud available backups.
Restores iOS devices using iTunes and iCloud backups
The recovery mode from the iOS device is clearly the most feature-packed one, as it enables you to scan and restore contacts, notes, messages, call history, calendar entries, reminders, photos and even voice memos.
The other two methods of recovery, namely from iCloud or from iTunes backups are more straightforward and imply that you have backed up your iOS device beforehand. In essence, working with this tool is by no means difficult, making it suitable even for the most inexperienced users out there.
Not what you would call a must-have
While so far everything seems fine and dandy, the truth is that iFoneMate mostly relies on your previous backups to work properly. Sure, it may come in handy in situations when your iPhone is no longer recognized by iTunes and you can't restore it from there, but that is about it.
While advertised that this app can help you restore important data deleted by mistake, from nasty errors that might occur during updates, virus attacks or after your iOS devices are physically damaged, you should not rely solely on this fact.
Not a bad app, but with a limited feature set
To conclude, iFoneMate is in no way a bad application, but its usefulness is somewhat limited. The only real-life situation when you might find it useful is when iTunes does not recognize your iOS device anymore. Then, you could use the app to restore your iPhone using your iTunes backup, but without having to use iTunes.
