IP Configurator Description
IP Configurator is a tool that gives you the possibility to create multiple network profiles and easily cycle through them when connecting to the Internet. It has advanced, yet intuitive options that can be quickly figured out.
Portable tool with systray integration
The program's not wrapped in a setup kit, so you can save the downloaded files to a custom location on the disk and just double-click the .exe. Another option is to keep it stored on a USB flash drive, in order to effortlessly run it on any PC. Just keep in mind that you must have .NET Framework installed. On the other hand, it doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry.
Once launched, IP Configurator creates an icon in he systray and sits there silently without showing any notification messages. This way, it becomes non-intrusive and lets you carry on with your normal PC activity while facilitating fast access to its configuration settings and network profiles.
Manage and cycle through network profiles
New profiles can be put together by specifying the name, DHCP properties (IP address, subnet mask, gateway), DNS and proxy servers. Alternatively, the app can be instructed to automatically obtain the DNS servers.
Once you've created multiple profiles, you can easily switch through them from the tray icon's right-click menu. It's possible to delete any network profiles if you change your mind, edit their properties, select a different language for the interface, as well as ask the utility to automatically run at every Windows startup until told otherwise.
Evaluation and conclusion
To sum it up, IP Configurator comes loaded with straightforward and effective methods for creating multiple network profiles to rapidly select them from the systray. System resources consumption was minimal in our tests, while settings were applied without any issues.
