iTech Video Cutter Description
A large variety of videos you encounter on the web went through some degree of processing, which might have involved even simple operations, like eliminating certain parts of the clip. In this regard, iTech Video Cutter comes with a neat set of tools with which to easily load videos and split them into multiple parts of interest.
Visual design and file support
The application takes only a little while to get installed on your system, and before you know it, the set of features it comes with are yours for testing. A compact main window pops on your desktop when launched, resembling a common video player, with a large preview area, progress slider, as well as a set of playback controls.
Needless to say that the application works with video files, but shortly after pressing the load button, you notice that it’s also capable of performing the cut operation on audio files as well.. The list of supported formats is decent, with the possibility to load files like MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, APE, AC3, AOB, AU, SND, MPA, AIF, AIFC, VOC, VOX, MID, RMI, MP2, and M1V. This can either be done by dragging them over the main window or using the built-in browse dialog.
Shallow set of features
The way the application is designed can make you quickly ignore the set of cutting options, and probably because they’re pretty well hidden among playback controls. Regardless of the time it takes to identify them, options are pretty intuitive and only require you to progress through the video and place markers for the start and end points of the video.
With start and end points placed, the only thing left to do is to put the process in motion. Although you can load a pretty impressive variety of file formats, the one that gets generated is the same as the import file, so conversion is not possible, nor the option to simply extract audio from a clip. The process is done pretty fast, with the new file keeping original quality intact, and saved to a custom location.
A few last words
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that iTech Video Cutter is a lightweight and straightforward application that does exactly what the name suggests. Although the overall process of loading, setting markers, and cutting the video is pretty intuitive, it would have been nice to see at least a few more options, given the variety of supported file formats.
