JK Ruler Description

Working on a computer can mean a whole variety of things, even carefully aligning specific elements to fit on screen. Pixels are used as the universal measuring unit for screen resolution and distances, and with the help of specialized applications like JK Ruler, you can accurately tell the dimensions of different objects on the desktop.

Easily change the direction of the ruler

A cool thing about it is that you don’t have to go through a setup process to make it work, and this means, on the one hand, that you can see what it’s all about as soon as download is done. More than that, it’s easy to have it carried around on a USB flash drive in case your work requires using different computers.
Running the application initially brings up a ruler in the default format style. It’s aligned horizontally, but this can be changed from the corresponding context menu. Note, however, that changing alignment doesn’t create a new ruler, and only changes the direction of the ruler.

Have more rulers on your desktop

Don’t be disappointed if you consider the initial ruler is too small. Resizing it is easily done by dragging its borders across the desktop, with the possibility to do this on both axis. You’re also free to move it to any suitable position on screen. However, there’s no option to make it snap to other elements, such as windows, or at least screen edges.
The ruler is fitted with a transparency effect, which can be adjusted from the context menu for more comfort. Furthermore, there’s an option which makes it sit on top of every other window, just so it never goes out of focus, allowing for accurate measures, regardless of the elements on screen. It’s also possible to run multiple instances of the application, in case you need multiple rulers on screen.

To end with

In conclusion, JK Ruler is a practical application to use if you’re planning to build accurate desktop or program elements. Multiple instances of the program can be active at a time in case you want to measure different parts of an element, while portability adds the flexibility you need.
