Kaliro File Recovery Description

Kaliro File Recovery is an advanced tool designed to help you copy one or more files from one location to another and skip the Cyclic Redundancy Error (CRC) that typically occurs when attempting to transfer data from CDs or DVDs to the computer. Geared toward experienced users, it has a bunch of expert configuration settings.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the hard disk or copied to a USB flash drive to effortlessly launch it on any PC.
Unlike many installers, it doesn't update the system registry with new entries or create files on the disk without asking for permission. However, it needs .NET Framework to work properly.

Easily transfer files to other locations

When it comes to the interface, Kaliro File Recovery adopts a standard .NET Framework form and doesn't add attractive graphical elements. This rudimentary appearance makes it seem like an unfinished software project.
In order to perform file transfers, it's necessary to add the items in question to the task list (keeping in mind that you can include as many files as you want to copy in sequential order), as well as to specify the output directory, whether it's in a local, removable or network location.

Configure file copying settings

Once the job is over, you can find out the status of each file in the main window, in addition to the size. Debugging details are shown in the bottom part of the window.
As far as configuration settings are concerned, you can modify the default read timeout (milliseconds), block size (kilobytes), minimum block size (kilobytes), unreadable blocks and file reprocessing actions for the source files, ask the tool to write the an .xml file to remember your settings, as well as customize debugging options (simulate error at offset, length of simulated error, error, none or all logging).

Evaluation and conclusion

File copy jobs were performed quickly in our tests, during which the tool remained light on system resources usage. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't freeze or crash. It failed to remember settings in our case, and the interface needs a makeover.
On the other hand, when it comes to functionality, Kaliro File Recovery delivers a straightforward method for transferring multiple files between different directories while avoiding CRC errors.
