KLONK Map Measurement Description
When measuring a distance on a map, you need to take into consideration the scale and convert the result accordingly.
If maths is not your cup of tea, you can turn to dedicated apps like KLONK Map Measurement. This specialized software solution can help you make various types of distance calculations on a digital map.
Minimalistic design
You need to start by zooming in to the area you are interested in or simply search for a certain location, and the map automatically focuses on it.
Even though the icons of the main window are pretty intuitive, the best way to learn what they do is to experiment with them, and the same goes for the settings. Unfortunately, right-clicking or hovering your mouse over any of these buttons does not display any additional details.
Calculate distances, areas or perimeters
Depending on your necessities, you can select a straight line to calculate the distances between two points. If you want to measure distances between several points, you can add multiple segments and the app automatically calculates the distance.
The polygon can come in handy when you are looking to calculate the area or a perimeter of a roof, lawn, lake or any other object of interest.
Regardless of the measurement you want to make, you only need to choose the tool then click on the map - right-clicking the point offers you the possibility to delete them. You can move points or polygons by dragging them to the new location.
No way to save the calculations
On the downside, KLONK Map Measurement does not provide any obvious way to save your measurements and load them again at a later time. In other words, if you accidentally close the main window, your calculations are gone, and you need to start fresh.
All in all, the software solution is of great use to those who want to measure distances on a map and have the results displayed within seconds. Also, they can switch between metric or imperial units and adjust the line width to their liking.
