Link Description
Link is a software application that comprises a multi-threaded server and client. It is specifically developed as a chat client that allows you to connect to private or public chats over the Internet. It comes with support for private messaging capabilities so you can talk with anyone from a global chat room in private, rather than to all users.
Setting up the server won’t take much of your time because you only need to specify the password of the server and moderator. In addition, you can access a list with banned users.
In order to run the tool correctly and avoid bumping into all sorts of errors, you need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or a higher version on the target computer.
Engage in private or public chats
Link gives you the possibility to work with 20 clients simultaneously. What’s more, you can set up server configuration details by providing information about the profile, nickname, IP/host, password, and port (TCP).
You can also get a list with connected users, quickly connect or disconnect, save log data, change the nickname, request user list, and view server information.
The application comes with support for basic encryption and spam protection in order to prevent spammers. However, you should not use it for chat messages containing sensitive information. Spammers receive three notifications before being kicked from the server. In case they reconnect to the server and continue spamming, they are banned permanently.
What’s more, Link allows you to set up two passwords for the server: one can be used for stopping people to engage in your discussions, while the other is for moderators who have the power to kick and ban unwanted guests.
You may store multiple profiles so you can quickly connect to the desired one, edit or delete them, as well as set the current profile as your default one. Chat windows look simple and intuitive. You can type in text messages, save logs, and block the current user.
Final remarks
All things considered, Link comes packed with several handy features for helping you connect to private or public chats over the Internet.
