Madena File Sorter Description
Chances are you want to find all pictures in a particular location, or better yet, create a list with all of them. This is pretty difficult to perform with what Windows has to offer, but there are various specialized applications like Madena File Sorter which can scan folders and subfolders and display all containing pictures.
Perks of a portable app
Since you’re saved the entire time and effort required to go through a setup process, the application is good to go from the moment it lands on your computer. The only thing you need to be sure of is whether or not .NET Framework is on your computer, because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality.
As far as the visual design goes, the application doesn’t wrap its features around a particular style, but rather keeps things simple so it doesn’t pose any accommodation problems. A large list gets filled up with identified files, and there’s also the possibility to get a preview of the selected picture by enabling preview mode.
Export a list of all pictures in the source folder
Unfortunately, dropping a folder over the main window doesn’t get the job done, so you need to use the built-in browse dialog to pick the directory of interest. Note that subfolders are also included in the scan operation, with no possibility to exclude them from search.
As soon as you load the folder, all detected pictures end up in a list, with column headers for file number, name, location, and additional path. Moreover, the application makes it easy to create a filter, but this is only possible by name. Exporting the list is your only option, with a new TXT file created at a location of choice, containing the exact amount of details as shown in the main window.
To end with
Bottom line is that Madena File Sorter isn’t really meant to have any actual effect on files themselves, but rather help you create a list with pictures from a directory. There’s no possibility to change names, or even the arrangement in the source location.
