MD5 Checksum Calculator Description
MD5 Checksum Calculator is a tiny and portable Windows tool that quickly identifies and displays the MD5 signature of any file, as the name suggests. It also comprises a feature for comparing two hashes.
The program has an intuitive configuration set that should be easy to figure out even by users with minimum background in such apps.
As there is no installation involved, you can place the program files anywhere on the disk and just click the EXE to run.
Another option is to save MD5 Checksum Calculator to a USB flash disk or similar storage device, to be able to run it on any PC effortlessly, without installing anything beforehand.
What's worth taking into account is that the Windows registry does not receive new keys, and no extra files are created on the disk, leaving it clean after removal.
The UI is represented by a normal window with a neatly organized structure. Files of any format can be added using the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop feature is not supported.
Its MD5 hash immediately appears in the main frame, and you can copy it to the Clipboard using the global hotkey or context menu entry. Right below this box it is possible to enter a secondary hash in order to compare it to the first; MD5 Checksum Calculator tells you whether the two checksums are identical or not.
CPU and RAM usage is low, so the program does not hog system resources. We have not encountered any type of problems in our tests, as it did not freeze, crash or display error notifications. Overall, MD5 Checksum Calculator serves its purpose and can be used by anyone.
