Mem Viewer

Performing complex operations on a computer means you need to have resources available so your PC doesn’t get overwhelmed. The Task Manager displays real-time usage, but the display is rather bulky. If you’re interested in a minimalistic monitor for resources, then Mem Viewer is used to display memory status.

Configure display and advanced options

Some of the last steps of the installer ask whether or not to launch the program directly, letting you shortly take it for a spin. A pretty simple slider is brought on the desktop, with a high chance you don’t even see it. There’s also a new tray icon added, from which you can bring up the configuration panel.
With the setup panel up, you gain access to a set of general and advanced behavior controls. The general tab makes it possible to have the program launched with Windows, whether to show free memory, as well as hints, which come in the form of a bar, and the tray icon, which can show percentage, free memory, or both.

Adjust process priority

Down over in the advanced section, you can choose to adjust the application’s priority so that it sits idly by, or monitor and display status in real time. There’s also the possibility to set a custom refresh interval, specified in milliseconds. In addition, the application can be set to stay on top of everything else, which isn’t bad, considering the desktop gadget is pretty slim.
Usage is shown as a slider which fills up, depending on usage. Orientation is toggled through a double-click operation, and you’re free to move it anywhere on the desktop. Note that you can’t disable the desktop gadget to leave the tray icon as the only memory status indicator.
