Memory Monitor Description
Memory Monitor is an application that gives you the possibility to keep an eye on your computer's current RAM usage. It contains a couple of intuitive options that can be tackled with ease, even by those inexperienced with such software.
Systray integration for viewing RAM usage
Once started, the tool gets integrated into your taskbar notifications area and sits there silently while monitoring your memory consumption, providing quick access to its options.
Left-clicking the tray icon brings up a small panel that shows the memory loaded, total and available physical RAM, maximum swap file size, available swap file, along with available and total virtual memory.
As far as program settings are concerned, you can change the window position and make the frame stay on top of other processes. There are no other notable options available here.
No installation necessary
There is no setup pack involved, which makes Memory Monitor portable. You can save the downloaded .exe file to a custom directory on the disk or copy it to a removable storage unit to directly run it on any machine with as little effort as possible.
It doesn't make any changes to your system registry, create files on the disk without your permission, or need DLLs or other components to work properly.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't experienced any unpleasant surprises in our tests as far as stability is concerned, since the tool didn't hang, crash or indicate errors. It left a small footprint on the computer's performance, thanks to the fact that it used a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
On the other hand, Memory Monitor hasn't received updates for a long time and doesn't come equipped with additional options, such as logging RAM usage to files to study detailed information.
