Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) was developed to be a toolkit that dramatically cuts the effort, cost, and risk of migrating from Oracle to SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2.
SSMA for Oracle provides an assessment of migration efforts as well as automates schema and data migration. All editions of SQL Server are supported.
SSMA for Oracle lets you quickly convert Oracle database schemas to SQL Server schemas, upload the resulting schemas into SQL Server, and migrate data from Oracle to SQL Server. The Extension Pack emulates some of the Oracle functionality.
SSMA for Oracle supports migration from Oracle 7.3 and higher to any edition of SQL Server.System requirementsFor the SSMA for Oracle client:
Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later version
Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 or a later version
Oracle Client 9.0 or a later version, and connectivity to the Oracle databases that you want to migrate. The Oracle client version must be the same version as, or a later version than, the Oracle database version.
Access to and sufficient permissions on the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server.
