Minimal Browser Description
The IT world is becoming saturated with an abundance of different applications. Some poor development choices cripple people’s trust in lesser known programs, even if better than popular ones. Web browsers are facing the same issue, and Minimal Browser is just one of the variety of available choices.
A lot of space to show content
Unlike most of its kind, this web browser puts the focus on view space. All buttons, menus, and functions are somehow fitted on a toolbar no bigger than a regular window title bar. What’s more, the window borders are conveniently thin, also allowing the option to resize, and there’s even a button to switch to a full screen mode.
With this in mind, Minimal Browser manages to make a proper first impression, and the visual design, although minimal, is pretty decent. Again, the upper toolbar is the place to write down the URL field, navigate back and forth, quickly go to the home page, or manage favorite websites.
Far from being a pro
However, practicality hits a brick wall when trying to write down an address. Unless you fully write it down with all the W’s and dashes, you’re taken to a custom built Google search containing what’s in the URL field. What’s worse is that clicking anything in the displayed results brings up Internet Explorer with the content you’re looking for.
Moreover, there’s no support for multiple tabs, but only possible to run more instances of the application. However, functions seem to trigger with a disturbing delay and if you repeatedly press a button out of anger, you end up with an invasion of consequences.
In conclusion
Bottom line is that from all the web browsers out there, Minimal Browser has a lot to learn from its competitors before it can take you on a pleasure trip across the web. The interface design is impressive nonetheless, with a large viewing area and cleverly integrated functions in a small space, but functionality needs some heavy tweaking.
