MLCad Description

As the name suggests, MLCad is a utility designed to help you create impressive models of buildings and entire towns using standard Lego parts or components that you designed yourself.

Comprehensive and customizable interface

For starters, it goes without saying that you need to have LDraw installed on your computer before you can use the application. When you launch the application for the first time, you are asked to set the Base Path, which is essentially the LDraw folder.
It is necessary to mention that the interface looks rather sloppy when you first open the app because all toolbars are active. Then again, you can arrange and move them around as you wish or close them completely if you do not need them.
Apart for adjusting the toolbars, the interface is well-organized and consists of 3 panels. While the ones on the left display the parts available for creating buildings and models, the third pane exhibits the part you select from the front, left, top and in a 3D view.

Create new projects or modify existing ones

In case this is the first time you are trying to create an advanced model out of Lego parts, then you can learn the ropes by modifying the models available by default. You can use the default parts in other projects by saving or exporting them as images.
If you have some experience with creating Lego models, then you should know that you can create parts or entire structures from thin air. Before you can start tweaking the element, you should first place the object to the desired location.
In addition, you can view some comments when you start building your own models although you did not perform any action. You should resist the temptation to move or delete these comments, as they serve as standard information associated with your new project.

A great tool for Lego fans

If you enjoy creating structures and models from Lego parts, then MLCad can help you gather all the information necessary about the parts you need.
