MP3 Archiver Description
Sure enough you can go online to listen to your favorite tunes, but there’s also a high chance you have a collection of songs somewhere on your computer. In case you want to organize it in a neat structure, MP3 Archiver makes the process automated by having tags read, and folder structures created for you.
Lightweight and easy to use
On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t even need to be installed in order to function, so you can go ahead and take it for a spin as soon as it lands on your computer. Additionally, it’s easy to fit it on a USB flash drive to always have it at hand. There’s no need to worry about the health status of the computer you use it on because registry entries are not affected in the process.
The main window offers all elements you get to work with in an intuitive overall layout. There’s a list of locations to grab music files from, dedicated process options which mostly require a press of a button, as well as the output panel which updates as files are processed.
Folder structures based on ID tags
You get to process entire folders at a time, but adding them needs to be done through the browse dialog, because drag and drop is not supported here. Basic file format support is narrowed down to MP3 and WMA, with the possibility to select only one format for the operation in case there are multiple types in the source folder.
Just to make sure all files of interest are gathered, there’s an option to include subfolders. The resulting structure is created based on song artist and album. Original files remain intact, because copies are placed inside the generated folder structure. Sadly, there’s no option to move files directly, or remove original ones when done.
A few last words
In conclusion, MP3 Archiver is a trustworthy solution to arrange your music collection in a neat folder structure based on ID tags. Although there’s little control over the operation, the application manages to do a great job if target files have ID tag fields properly filled in.
