A picture can freeze any moment in time with all its good and bad sides. Since your computer is the place most photos you take are stored you might need an application that makes viewing them a pleasure. NexusImage is a lightweight utility that can open up various image file types so you can enjoy your favorite pictures from the comfort of your desktop.

Manually scroll through your albums

Running the application requires you to specify a directory from where to load photos. All of them are displayed in a side bar for easy access. Here you can also make use of a search field to quickly find a specific picture, but it does not exclude others from the list, only highlighting the desired one and the applied emphasis effect makes it a little difficult to spot if not paying close attention.
Furthermore, if you want to view all photos from your computer and they are scattered all over your hard drive, don't bother to open up all folder, because it will replace the existing selection.

Limited options to work with

Even though it is only an image viewer meant to be simple, it managed to squeeze in some flaws. There is no implemented function that allows you to view photos in a slideshow, which would have come in handy, given the option to dim the desktop. You are only limited to the main window, which you can resize, but no way to go fullscreen.
In terms of editing, only the basic rotation and flipping options are available. However, in the file menu there is an “Edit with” function that allows you to run a target application in case you want to modify the image thoroughly.

All in all, NexusImage is a simple and straightforward application you can keep around to view photos. The interface is pretty enough and a desktop dimmer further enhances the visual experience, but there are missing features which make it a little rough around the edges.
