NFO Reader

NFO Reader is an ultra simple Windows application made to display the content of Information files (NFO format) and Descriptions in ZIP files (DIZ format).
It does not contain any outstanding options or configuration settings, so it can be handled by all kinds of users, whether they are experienced with computer software or not.
Many game files contain NFO files which describe installation steps, so NFO Reader comes in handy in these cases.
Setting up the program takes little time and minimal effort, since there are only standard buttons in the wizard.

Simple and familiar UI

Its interface is similar to the one of a common word processor, but it contains only two buttons: for opening files and viewing product information, respectively.
White text is shown on a black background, which might make reading slightly difficult. Unfortunately, NFO Reader does not allow users to change the colors.

Copy text selections

Although a copying button is not visible, it is possible to make a text selection and copy it to the Clipboard by using the global hotkey (Ctrl + C) or opening the context menu. There are no other worthwhile options available here.
As expected, NFO Reader has minimal impact on computer performance, as it uses low CPU and memory. It ran smoothly during our evaluation, without causing Windows to hang, crash or display errors.

Bottom line

Although it has not been updated for a while, it works well on later operating systems. In lack of any notable options, NFO Reader makes for a straightforward utility for viewing the content of NFO and DIZ files.
