NTFS Permissions Explorer SnapIn Description
The NTFS Permissions Explorer MMC SnapIn provides reporting functionality for the NT File System in many different ways; Single Folder - View the File System Permissions for a single folder. This functionality will display all the information regarding the Access Control List for the selected folder. This view also displays Special Permissions by a quick character representation, as well as allowing you to view the full attribute break down upon selection. Entire Directory Structure - View the File System Permissions for an entire directory structure. This function will recursively display the Access Control List for each sub folder within one single view. By default the application will only show subfolders that have permissions that differ from their parent object, but allows for a verbose reload showing everything. This view also allows for the user to apply a custom filter to remove Groups/Users to remove unwanted information. In the same way as the Single Folder View, this view also displays Special Permissions by a quick character representation. Custom Searches - View a selected User/Groups effective permission on a specified directory and all its sub directories. When performing a custom search, Special Permissions will also be displayed by the same quick character representation. Please Note: This application only allows for reporting of File System Permissions and in no way offers the functionality to modify them.
