NTFSRatio Description
Since it’s the default way of managing files and folders on your computer, Windows comes with the default means of analyzing them with ease. When it comes to folders though, you can only view size for one at a time. Luckily, you can use specialized applications like NTFSRatio to inspect, and enlist them.
Quickly launched from a folder context menu
First of all, the name is only because file based compression is supported by NTFS file system, but this doesn’t mean you can’t also analyze FAT file systems. The installation process offers to integrate the application in the context menu to make it easier to trigger an analysis, regardless of the location you’re in.
By default, the application starts off in the system drive, with merely a couple of seconds taking to analyze it. Sure enough, it can start off in any other location, especially if you launch it from the context menu. Even so, there’s the possibility to quickly load a different folder using the browse dialog.
View, and export options
All detected files and folders are shown in a list, with related details like name, size, compression size, as well as compression ration. You’re free to filter according to these column headers by simply clicking them. Total size, compression, and ratio are also shown in an upper status bar.
To make things even more comfortable, files and folders can be directly managed from the application’s main window, since your context menu is made available for files and folders you right click. Multiple instances of the application can also be brought up for comparison.
In case you make changes to a target folder while its content is displayed, there’s an option to refresh content in case it doesn’t get updated. Export can either be done by having all details copied to clipboard, or printing out on a sheet of paper.
In conclusion
All in all, analyzing your disk space can help prevent running low on storage, and with NTFSRatio this can be done in a few seconds. The visual design is simple, letting anyone accommodate in a jiffy, while results are displayed in the blink of an eye. It works with all types of file system, with details neatly displayed, and options to export for later analysis.
