Olympic Malware Removal Tool Description
Olympic Malware Removal Tool is a lightweight and portable utility made to find and delete files that contain malicious code using a wide range of spam methods to spread, disguised as emails offering information about the 2012 Olympic Games.
Simple GUI for malware scans
The interface is made from just one window with a simple design and structure, where the scanning operation is automatically performed at startup.
Olympic Malware Removal looks into common malware hiding spots, such as the Windows, Program Files and Downloads directories. This may take a while, depending on the size of your hard disk. However, it can be canceled if you change your mind or if it takes too long.
Infected files are deleted as soon as they're found. Once the entire task is over, you can check out the number of infected, cleaned and total files. There are no other notable options available here.
No installation necessary
The tool's packed in a single .exe file that you can save to a custom directory on the disk or copy to a USB flash drive to directly launch it on any computer with minimum effort and no previous setup.
It doesn't need any DLLs or other components to work properly, create files on the disk without asking for your permission, or add new entries to your system registry. If you want to uninstall it, you simply have to delete the executable.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or indicate errors. Scans were carried out quickly. Unsurprisingly, it used a minimal amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper computer performance.
Just keep in mind that Olympic Malware Removal Tool doesn't provide real-time protection against viruses. Otherwise, it has intuitive options for removing infected files.
