PC Shutdown Description
Having to plan ahead can save you a lot of time, and gets you out of situations in which you can forget important stuff. Even shutting down your computer can be a thing, but there are third-party applications specially designed so you don’t ever forget. For instance, PC Shutdown lets you set a time and date, as well as the operation to perform.
Lightweight and easy to use
As soon as setup is done you get the chance to see how the application can help you shut down your computer. Needless to say that it’s a good idea to save all your work before checking if it works, so you don’t end up with any lost bits of data.
A pretty compact window shows up on launch, with little to no time spent accommodating with what it has to offer. There’s a drop-down menu representing a calendar to pick the date for the task, as well as a time value in a 24 hour clock format. Hitting the power option activates the program, scheduling the computer for the respective job.
Good, but far from being a pro
Note that the application is not configured to run with Windows, so relying on the preset date after you manually shutdown the PC doesn’t work. You need to leave it all up to the application to perform the task, which needs to be triggered every time.
Unfortunately, the application doesn’t really come with any advanced features. For instance, there’s only the possibility to restart apart from shutdown, with no options to standby, hibernate, or log off. In case you do want to quickly launch it from any Explorer location, the trick is to assign a hotkey command to its shortcut from the Properties panel.
In conclusion
All in all, PC Shutdown doesn’t really offer much flexibility when it comes to creating a schedule on the long run for shutdown operations. Truth be told, is a little underprepared, but it might just come in handy for powering off the computer if you’re not sure you can last through an entire movie at night.
