Auto Shutdown Description
There are some types of computer activities which can take a lot of time, and depending on the task, and the application performing it, there might be an option to automatically turn off your computer when done. If not, there are always various third-party alternatives like Auto Shutdown which you can fully configure.
Lightweight, and easy to use
It takes little time and effort to set up the application and make everything work. When done, the main window shows up, letting you choose trigger conditions, as well as actions. For more efficiency, you can make the application minimize to the tray area, or automatically run with Windows.
By default, nothing is activated, but a simple press of a button grants you access to configurations. Action scheduling can either be set up to perform an action in a specific number of minutes, or at a custom date and time, which doesn’t necessarily have to match the current day. Moreover, you can set a timer to warn you in advance so you have the time to save any work in progress.
Set time, or idle trigger
There’s quite the variety of power options which can be set to trigger. Needless to say that you can only pick one, with options to log off the current user, lock the computer, sleep, hibernate, restart, or shut down, with an additional option to force all running programs to close.
Another method to configure the automated process is to enable one of the power options mentioned above whenever the computer is idle. Sadly, this is judged by user activity, with no option to set the application to monitor system resources, for instance, when a specific program stop using resources intensely.
Last but not least, the application gives you the possibility to take matters into your own hands, in the sense that most power options can be configured to trigger on hotkeys. There are already some preset keys, but you’re free to change them.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Auto Shutdown is packed with various automation options. It can be set to trigger on different time variables, when the computer is idle, or whenever you decide through hotkeys. It’s lightweight, easy to configure, deserving at least a try overall.
