W7Tweaks - Auto Shutdown Description
Saving energy is a pretty controversial topic and your computer uses a lot of it. A great deal of machines are idly running for hours on end. However, with the help of specialized applications such as W7Tweaks – Auto Shutdown you can cut power to your computer and only use it when necessary.
Lightweight and easy to use
The application runs in a pretty compact interface. It lets you quickly accommodate due to the clever design, because options are clearly visible and there is not an abundance of features to overwhelm you.
You gain access to all the computer's power option and several time related settings. Adjusting them both is the first step and hitting the “Activate†button puts the process in motion.
Good but far from being a pro
Its core function is to automatically shut down your computer when no user activity is detected. This setting can be customized, as you can set the number of seconds after which to activate a power function when idle.
Additionally, you can switch to a mode that gives you the possibility to program any of your computer's power options. From the “Settings†menu you can make the application go to the system tray when closed or even start along with your operating system.
However, this is as far as functionality stretches. You need to adjust settings each time you want the application to take control of power functions, and there is no integrated feature that allows you to thoroughly create a schedule.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that W7Tweaks – Auto Shutdown is only good to have around in case you never catch the end of a movie because you fall asleep. It does not bring anything new on the block and limited features keep it from being a pro.
