Pendrive Protection Description

Pendrive Protection is a compact tool that intends to protect your computer from the viruses transferred from removable storage devices. It aims to provide you with an additional protection method when you frequently use a pen drive or other USB devices for data transfer.
Although the developer describes it as an “dos programmed antivirus”, the definition can be misleading for the users that expect it to scan the removable device and remove the virus-infected files.
What it actually does, as it is explained in the readme file that is unpacked by the installer, is prevent viruses from being transferred to your computer by using the Autorun.inf file. The tool accomplishes that by clearing the file attributes and deleting it from the memory stick.
Preventing the device from automatically launching certain programs can stop certain viruses from spreading. Unfortunately, the program only deletes the Autorun file once and does not prevent the virus from creating a new file which is the typical behavior of these types of viruses.
For the average computer user, the program’s usage is not obvious since it does not include clear instructions other than to format your memory stick before running the application. You need to check the BAT files in order to find the one that deals with the autorun function.
While running or looking through the BAT files you might notice that some of them launch the Internet Explorer browser, Notepad or open certain web pages. If you only want to remove the Autorun.inf file you need to edit the Sbs.bat file and only leave the code that deletes the Autorun file.
However, manually removing the Autorun.inf file or making sure that this feature is disabled on your computer seem far better options than checking and editing the files included in this utility.
