Periscope File Manager Description
The default Windows Explorer is a really nice applications that comes with all sort of tools for managing files on your computer. But if you're looking for an alternative, the Internet has lots of options that you can check out.
One of them is Periscope File Manager. It's a small application that works as a file manager but has very few options.
Simple and lightweight graphical interface
The application installs quickly and it doesn't come with a complicated setup that you would need to complete before you can actually use it. It sports a really clean and intuitive graphical interface with some tools that you can use in order to manage your files.
It doesn't have any customization options, although some additional themes would have made the application stand out from others on the market.
Manage files easily
It automatically opens with the main partition on your computer, displaying the folders and directories that it contains. You can use the address bar to add a file path and open it in a faster way.
However, a tree-view would have been much more useful, since it would have allowed you to navigate through directories in a more intuitive way. You can't change the view of files and replace thumbnails with a file list.
It would have been nice if it also showed you various details about your files, like the date of creation, size or other properties.
It's missing some essential tools
The application doesn't allow you to move icons from one directory to another or copy files and organize them. It also doesn't display any file properties and you can't bookmark the ones that you use the most.
In conclusion, Periscope File Manager is a very small application, but it lacks the essential tools that file managers have, allowing you only to see folders and files saved on your computer. It's rather a directory viewer, not a file manager.
