Pingator Description

Network administrators have a lot of work on their hands, but also benefit from a great variety of tools to automate most tasks. Chances are you simply need to know whether or not a specific website is alive, and this is where applications like Pingator come in handy, constantly sending out pings to a specific target.

Can be used on the go

First of all, the application is portable, so you benefit from its set of features right after download is done, and even on other computers directly from a thumb drive, since no installation is required. What’s more, registry entries are not modified to ensure functionality, so the health status of the target PC remains intact.
You start off in what seems to be a promising layout, and you have little to no trouble accommodating. A drop-down menu lets you select the target, while results are shown in a table. What’s more, you can choose to only display timeout connections, so you know whether or not there are troublesome connections.

No option to set target website

The application automatically starts to send pings to the specified website, and it can reside in the tray area during this time. Note, however, that there are no controls to cease the operation, unless you decide to close the program. What’s more, you can’t configure ping intervals.
Unfortunately, the application isn’t really fitted with any degree of liberty when it comes to target websites. It mostly serves as an example of how the ping operation works, because you can’t add your own website to the list, and you can just choose from a couple of preset targets.

In conclusion

All things considered, we can state that Pingator comes with good intentions, but hardly serves any purpose without an option to specify a custom website to ping. The list of websites is incredibly poor, and you’re easily tempted to look for alternatives.
