Portable EasyMusicMaker

Designed as the portable counterpart of EasyMusicMaker, Portable EasyMusicMaker is a tool you can use to design music sequences and generate MIDI files. It's made for beginners.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that the program hasn't received updates for a long time and doesn't work on newer Windows editions.

Portable utility with a simple GUI

Since there is no installation involved, you can save the app files in a custom location on the disk or copy them to a USB flash drive to directly run Portable EasyMusicMaker on any computer effortlessly. No changes are made to the Windows registry in this regard. Moreover, it doesn't create other files on the disk without your permission.
When it comes to the GUI, the application adopts a large window with a plain and simple structure that contains the keyboard, drums and guitar palette, in addition to the property dialog box.

Set instruments and channels

It's possible to create a new song by inputting the melody, bass, chord part and drums, in order to save the MIDI file by indicating the output directory and filename.
Furthermore, you can select the channel of melody and melody instrument (e.g. voice woo, alto sax, harmonica), as well as input notes by dragging keys from the keyboard palette to drop them into the staff. The available product documentation should help you with any issues you have.

Evaluation and conclusion

It didn't hog system resources in our tests, thanks to the fact that it required a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. No error messages were displayed and the app didn't hang or crash.
Too bad that it hasn't been updated for such a long time that it doesn't work on newer Windows editions. Nevertheless, you can still run Portable EasyMusicMaker on older OS models.
