Portable FontView

Designed as the portable counterpart of FontView, Portable FontView is a feather-light tool that shows the fonts you have installed on your computer. It comes in handy when you're looking to install new fonts, remove existing ones, or finding the ideal font to use for various projects.

No setup required

The entire application is wrapped in a single .exe file which can be saved anywhere on the disk and just double-clicked to launch FontView. It's also possible to copy it to a USB flash drive, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. It doesn't need any other DLLs to run, doesn't create extra files on the disk without your permission, and doesn't change Windows registry settings.

Basic GUI for viewing installed fonts

It's wrapped in a user-friendly GUI made from a standard window with a straightforward look. The program doesn't put emphasis on graphical appeal, yet it's very easy to navigate, thanks to the handful of options available.
The name of each installed font is shown in the main frame at launch, and you can customize the view mode when it comes to the number of columns and text height. Displayed information can be updated with the click of a button.

Examine the character map for each font

Unfortunately, Portable FontView doesn't implement options for taking a snapshot of the font names and saving them to image files, printing them, or writing any text you want in a specific font.
Apart from the program's executable file, there's another one included in the downloaded package, which facilitates access to a character map that lets you explore all characters from a particular font type, change their size, and copy them to the Clipboard.

Portable FontView offers a quick and simple method for discovering installed fonts, but it can be used as a viewer only, since it's doesn't contain options for editing, installing or uninstalling fonts, for example.
