Portty Description
Geared toward advanced PC users such as network administrators, Portty is a tool that provides you with an approachable interface for managing ports. It supplies extensive details and offers support for port forwarding and scanning, along with traffic shaping.
No installation, besides Java
If you have Java installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. The downloaded files can be saved anywhere on the disk or stored on a removable storage unit to be able to directly run Portty on any machine with Java. It doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry.
When it comes to the interface, the application opts for an attractive window with a neatly organized structure, giving you the possibility to add as many ports as you want to the list, edit their properties, as well as remove their entries from the list.
Scan, forward and analyze ports in depth
New ports can be included by specifying the destination host, limit to (per used port), destination start and end port, listening port, and port type (TCP or UDP). All ports can be scanned with the click of a button, and you can view their status, destination server and port number, listening port, port type, and limit.
In detailed view mode, you can also find out the port used for one or multiple connections, open status, sent and received bytes, time of activity, and total transferred bytes. Instead of bytes, the tool can be instructed to display values in kibibytes, kilobytes, mebibytes, or megabytes. All information can be exported to TXT format.
Evaluation and conclusion
The software application worked smoothly in our testing, without causing the OS to hang, crash or indicate errors. It needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance. Thanks to its intuitive interface and options, Portty can be seamlessly handled for ports management.
