It’s pretty difficult to rely on your memory for every single activity, given the amount of things you need to keep track of, and the little time to accomplish them. However, if you get to perform tasks on a computer, a solution is to keep small reminders with the help of applications like PostIt.

Customize text of each note

Windows itself integrated such a component a while back, letting you keep notes on the desktop through the gadget engine. Chances are you don’t really enjoy them, so you can use this application as an alternative.
When launched, a small text box appears on your desktop. It’s the place where you can write all ideas or notes, with the possibility to choose a different font, size, or strike out text, which comes in handy for managing tasks. These can be moved around, and don’t stay on top of other windows.

Leaves more to be desired

There’s also an associated tray icon that appears, and it’s the place from which you can launch new notes, or minimize all of them. Each new note can be fitted with a custom title. Unfortunately, you get to manage all of them at once, and there’s no menu or list for easy selection.
Notes can also be launched by running the application again. However, this creates a new instance of PostIt, and so you risk having notes discarded upon exit. In this regard, there’s the save option you might want to frequently use. If you need to use text from notes in other programs, the only way this can happen is by manually copying it, with no possibility to save to at least a plain text file.

To sum it up

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that PostIt comes with good intentions, but leaves more to be desired overall. Customization options are rather poor, with no possibility to change color, neither for text or notes themselves, while management can get frustrating at times, especially if you create one too many notes.
