Power Control Timer Description
Power Control Timer is a simple application intended to assist users with scheduling shutdown, restart, log off or lock tasks. The resource features a variety of predefined time parameters.
A good method of setting up delayed shutdowns
In essence, anyone that uses a computer and requires a delayed system shutdown tool can benefit from this resource. It can be highly useful when running time-consuming tasks, that have an exact finish timer (e.g. a system analysis tool or defragmenting utilities). In such cases, the resource is very handy because it allows one to shutdown the system after the time expires.
For all other cases, in which the finish timer is not known or can vary considerably, one can set up a delayed system lock. It can also be useful when trying to limit the time spent by children at the computer. A password-protected mode would be a nice addition and will, perhaps, be implemented in a future version.
Comes with a very intuitive interface
The resource contains a straight-forward interface that is completely focused on the task at hand. There are no menus, no tabs and no settings to tweak with. As such, the application is very user-friendly.
Once started, there are four modes from which users can choose from: “Shutdown†“Restart†“Log off†and “Lockâ€. These are self-explanatory and need to be linked to a timer, before the actual command can be issued.
Timers can be defined in hours and minutes
There are plenty of predefined time intervals from which to choose from, and users are free to customize this option as they wish. Once the command has been issued, a countdown will appear in the lower part of the desktop. Stopping it can be performed by accessing the application's menu.
All in all, Power Control Timer is a simple shutdown utility that can be employed for numerous reasons, including for saving energy.
