Print2Desktop Description
The Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol enables users to connect to their machines from other computers, but many consumer printers cannot be accessed in this manner. In order to print documents through an RDP session, you need to rely on third-party software.
Print2Desktop is a useful utility that creates a virtual printer driver for each physical device that needs to be mapped on the remote PC. Once the software has been set up, you should be able to print files remotely with ease.
Offers separate components for the server and client machines
The installation process is far from complex, as you only need to specify if you want to install either the server or client components on the current machine. Of course, it is also possible to set up both on the same computer.
In order to use the software effectively, the server component needs to be installed on the machine the printing devices are connected to, while the client component can be set up on any remote PC that you wish to access them from.
Configure the software to best suit your needs
After the initial installation process has been completed, you can specify which local printers should be added to the server, as well as restrict user access to certain devices.
The “Printing Preferences†and “Number of Copied†dialogs can be enabled or disabled on the client machine, and you can also determine for how long the latter should be displayed.
The default number of copies to be printed can be defined by the user, and experts can also choose to enable raster based printing.
Nifty software solution for remote printing
All in all, Print2Desktop is a relatively straightforward product that makes it possible to access printers from various machines via the Remote Desktop Protocol. It is not too difficult to set up, and it offers extensive documentation that should help you complete the initial configurations.
