Raw Image Viewer Description
Raw Image Viewer is a simple-to-use program that lets you view raw images, namely those with the CR2, NEF, CRW and RAF format.
It sports a sophisticated interface and allows conversion to JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF or TIFF type.
Installing the application takes little time and the options are standard, so they do not require special attention.
The primary frame has an elegant look and clean structure. Pictures can be opened using the file browser. Unfortunately, drag-and-drop support is not featured.
Considering that raw images usually have larger sizes than their JPG, BMP or PNG counterparts, loading them may take a while, during which Raw Image Viewer seems frozen.
It is possible to zoom in and out, fit the image to display, as well as to rotate it to left or right. Its size may be changed as well, by inputting the width and height numerical values (in pixels).
In order to convert the picture to another format, all you have to do is save it to a user-defined directory and specify the name and preferred extension. There are no other notable options provided by Raw Image Viewer.
The straightforward software utility uses a pretty high amount of CPU and RAM, if you take into account its few features. We haven't come across any issues throughout our tests, though. Aside from the temporary hangs, Raw Image Viewer did not crash or display error notifications.
All in all, this program lets users view raw images in a modern and intuitive working environment, while giving them the possibility to turn the pictures into files of different formats in just a few clicks.
