Registry Explorer Description
Since Regedit is a handy utility for many advanced users, every single tool created to enhance the whole experience with this particular built-in Windows app enjoys great success.
This is the case of Registry Explorer too, a minimal software solution developed to offer users an alternative to the classic Windows Regedit.
The special thing about this program is that it's fully integrated into Windows Explorer, which means that it doesn't even sport a dedicated interface. Instead, its features can be accessed via Windows Explorer from a brand new button at the top of the window.
Registry Explorer allows you to browse the registry just like you do with your files, so drag and drop support is also available, and so are copy and paste functions.
Obviously, you can select multiple entries to export them and even add bookmarks to access specific items at a later time with just one click.
On the good side, Registry Explorer doesn't hamper system performance since it's not a separate app per se, but more like a Windows Explorer plugin. What's more, thanks to the fact that it's integrated into Windows Explorer, it's part of a more familiar design, so you shouldn't spend too much time to figure out how to use it.
On the other hand however, Registry Explorer works only on Windows XP workstations and boasts no configuration settings.
Overall, Registry Explorer is a very interesting Regedit alternative that provides only the essential features to work with your registry items. It's integrated into Windows Explorer and it doesn't assault users with configuration options.
