Remote Administrator is a lightweight and portable utility designed for older operating systems. It allows users to perform some operations over the network remotely, such as turning off a computer, viewing system information or disabling services. It does not come packed with complex features or configuration parameters, so it can be handled with ease.

No installation needed

There is no setup kit involved, which makes Remote Administrator portable. In other words, you can save it to any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to run. Another option is to save it to an external removable device (like a pen drive) to launch the app on any PC effortlessly.
More importantly, it does not add new entries to the Windows registry or Start menu, so no traces are left behind after its removal.

Outdated interface with intuitive settings

The GUI is represented by a normal window with a plain and simple structure that does not put emphasis on looks. You can get started by logging in with the administrator name and password, as well as by defining the domain name.
It is possible to get a list of all computers and user names available on the network, change the domain name, send messages, examine and terminate active processes and services, view data on important events, check out system information, open files, as well as shut down one or all PCs from the list.

Evaluation and conclusion

We have not come across any issues in our tests, since the program did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. As expected, it leaves a small footprint on CPU and RAM, so its impact on system performance is insignificant. However, Remote Administrator has not been updated for a very long time and it is not compatible with later operating systems. But those who still use older Windows versions can give it a shot.
