Remote Utilities Free Edition Description
Remote Utilities Free Edition has been designed for the users that need to connect to multiple remote stations in a secure manner.
Both the server and the client installation files are available in the archived package, which makes setting things up a bit more comfortable.
Server security before other options
Getting any of them on the system is just a matter of following the instructions on the screen, although in the case of the server the procedure ends with a prompt for securing access with a password.
Furthermore, the security settings for this tool include enabling confirmation of the connection, creating a list of IP addresses that should be allowed or blocked as well as generate a secret, that acts a second security phrase required to connect to the server.
The server can log all the connections, complete with details like time and date, events taking place and the IP that initiated the communication.
Easy management of the connections from the client
The client half of the package benefits from an application window very similar to that of a file manager. It can store multiple connections and organize them into groups.
Among the most significant options available are the connection modes. These allow the client to take full control over the server (if allowed by the server) or just view the remote screen, enable file transferring or send power commands (shut down, reboot, lock, hibernate, etc,) to the hosts.
The list of options is much richer than this though and includes accessing the console, remotely execute a file or application, starting a chat session, enabling screen recording, accessing the registry or the voice and video chat feature.
Comprehensive remote connection suite
Remote Utilities package comprises both the server and the client and a hefty bunch of security settings along with plenty of connection options that can be managed from the server side.
Note: The free version can be used in a business environment on up to 10 remote PCs. In order to use this edition, you need to request a free license key.
