RGB Flop

RGB Flop is a tool that enables you to pick any color from the screen to find out its RGB values in decimal and hexadecimal format. Although it's dedicated to professionals, such as web designers or graphic artists, the app contains intuitive options that can be tackled even by casual users.

Portable tool with a simple GUI

The entire utility comes packed in a single .exe file that you can drop in a preferred folder on your computer or move to a pen drive to seamlessly run it on any machine without installing anything beforehand. It doesn't need DLLs or other components to run, create files on the disk, or adds new entries to your registry.
It's wrapped in a small window with a simple layout, where you can preview colors along with their RGB values in decimal and hexadecimal format.

Capture colors and copy RGB codes

By opening the right-click menu in the preview area, you can switch to color picking mode to turn your mouse cursor into an eye dropper, which can be moved anywhere on the screen and simply clicked to capture the indicated color.
The color codes are instantly calculated and displayed, and they can be selected and copied. It's also possible to copy the complete hex string via the context menu, or swap it for another color manually chosen from the color palette. Keyboard shortcuts are supported for all these commands.

Evaluation and conclusion

It worked smoothly in our evaluation, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or show error dialogs. Unsurprisingly, it didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine, since it required low resources to work properly.
RGB Flop comes in handy to all users interested in capturing colors to save their RGB codes, which can be later implemented in HTML, JavaScript and other types of projects.
