RIFF File Viewer

RIFF File Viewer is a small and portable utility that comes in handy when viewing the internal structure of RIFF files (Resource Interchange File Format), such as WAV, DLS and SF2 items.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and run it immediately.
Otherwise, RIFF File Viewer can be stored on a USB flash drive or other similar unit, from where you can run it on any computer with minimum effort.
An important aspect is that the Windows Registry area does not receive new entries, and files do not remain on the hard disk after removing the app.
The interface of the utility is based on a small and plain window. It doesn't strive from the visual perspective of the GUI, but we should keep in mind that RIFF File Viewer has not been updated for a very long time.
Thanks to the Explorer-based folder structure, you can easily navigate the contents of your system and locate RIFF items. For instance, you can find out the number of channels, frames per second, bytes per second, bytes per frame and bits per sample of a RIFF Wave file.
Unfortunately, RIFF File Viewer does not supply buttons for copying the data to the Clipboard, printing or exporting it to an external file (e.g. TXT, LOG). However, you can use the global Copy function from the right-click menu, once you have made a text selection.
RIFF File Viewer uses a minimum quantity of CPU and system memory, has a good response time to commands and worked well during our tests, without hanging, crashing or popping up error dialogs. Users with minimal background in software tools can quickly learn how to work with RIFF File Viewer, thanks to its overall simplicity.
