ScreenShot Description
With the aid of ScreenShot you can take snapshots of your computer screen, as the name suggests. It contains a couple of basic image editing options and can save the image to BMP format, as well as print the document. It can be handled by all types of users, even those with no previous experience in such software.
Simple setup and GUI
The setup procedure takes minimal time and effort, thanks to the fact that the wizard has only familiar steps. When it comes to the interface, ScreenShot adopts a seemingly outdated window with a clear-cut structure, where you can click a button to capture the full screen and preview the image.
Take screenshots and edit images
This can be saved to a file with the BMP format by just specifying the file name and destination directory. Alternatively, you can print the picture. Before doing so, however, it's possible to make several adjustments.
For example, you can convert colored pictures to greyscale, as well as make the image brighter or darker by clicking a button until you obtain the right brightness and contrast ratio. It can be viewed in full size or fit to the screen. There are no other notable options available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
It left a small footprint on the computer's performance in our tests, running on low CPU and RAM. Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, we haven't come across any stability issues on newer Windows, as it didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages.
On the other hand, it doesn't make room for customization. For instance, it doesn't have multiple snapshot capture methods or additional editing options (e.g. crop, resize, flip).
Taking into account its current set of features, ScreenShot seems to mostly address first-time users.
