Search-Book is an extremely lightweight application designed for this exact type of situations. In just a few words, Search-Book allows you to efficiently find e-books by searching for the author or any word in a book's title.
Best of all, it is perfectly equipped to work with almost all e-book related formats such as EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, AZW, APNX, PRC, TXT, PDF and many others.

Uncomplicated installation procedure

Before anything else, you should know that this tiny utility requires .NET Framework version 4.0 (or later) and PowerShell version 5 in order to properly function. Users with computer's running Windows 10 are the luckiest of the bunch since the aforemention version of PowerShell is neatly integrated by default.
Having said that, simply download the package, unzip the archive, and run the Setup VBScript file. At this point, you will notice that a Search-Book shortcut was created on your computer's desktop. All that's left to do is right-click the icon, select Properties and select the "Run as Administrator" checkbox from the Advanced section.

Straightforwardly search for and located e-books

Once launched, you are met by a clear-cut, compact search window. Input the folder's location, select the file type filter, enter the author or one word from the e-book's title, and hit the "Run" button.
This action triggers another, more suitable, window that displays all the results. Quite conveniently, you can forwardly perform searches by adding new criteria and filters in their dedicated fields, on the upper part of the current window.

Hardly impressive but efficient nonetheless
